For Det Danske Klasselotteri (The Danish Lottery), Pentia have developed an IT platform, based on Windows and Sitecore CMS to support the “lottery game”. The primary sales channel today is the Internet, which is supplemented by a shop on the town square as well as around 200 retailers across the country.

Det Danske Klasselotteri A/S has 1 million lottery tickets and about 400,000 players. Some of the players are traditional in the sense that they go to the retailers and renew their tickets and others use the Lottery’s web based e-shop. Because Klasselotteriets customer portfolio has historically been made up of many old players, they had a requirement for attracting younger players. An important part of the strategy to achieve this is a modern E-commerce solution.

Since 2002 Pentia has been Klasselotteriets primary development partner and Pentia has therefore also developed Klasselotteriets e-commerce solution, based on Sitecore CMS. The solution integrates with the back-office system, which Pentia has also developed. The solution is an advanced E-commerce solution that is integrated with, among other things:

  • DIBS payment system for credit card payments.
  • Net-ID, which is used to login with help from Netbanks login.
  • Digital Signature, which is also used to login with.
  • Betalingsservice (payment service), so that players pay and receive rewards via Betalingsservice.
  • SMS gateway to send sms’s when a player has won.
  • Back office system to manage the lottery.

The back office application or game application is a Windows application, with an Oracle server below it. Pentia has developed this application from scratch to support the administrative tasks Klasselotteriets have in relation to managing 1 million tickets and 400,000 players, besides the many retailers. The application has a wide range of integrations:

  • DIBS payment system for credit card payments.
  • The telephone system that enables players to call to the Millionaire hotline with the help of a touch tone service to enable players to find out if they have won.
  • Betalingsservice (payment service), so that players pay and receive rewards via Betalingsservice.
  • Microsoft Axapta, which is used to manage the financial aspects of Klasselotteriet.
  • Microsoft Excel for data extraction.
  • Report builder to create the many reports.
  • CPR register to register addresses all over Denmark.
  • And many more….

A third and considerable part of Klasselotteriets software portfolio is the Shop Application, which is used in the shop on the town square in Copenhagen. The Shop Application was in 2007/08 changed so that instead of having physical tickets stored at the Shop, they are printed as required. This change has ensured that Klasselotteriets shop employees can service customers quicker than before. Twice a year Klasselotteriet are lucky enough to have 1000 to 1500 customers go through the shop per day. To relieve the pressure during these periods Klasselotteriet employ approximately 20 temps. Following the launch of the new Shop Application, they have been able to reduce this number by half. The Shop Application is a fully integrated part of the Game Application.
